The gimbals expansion joint consists of two gimbals structures where are bellows with flanges as the connection element, and a middle steel tube. Its advantage is the absorption of lateral movement in all working planes.
This designed structure could prevent the pipe bulking or torsion due to excessive heating expansion and angular movement in any plane while the large deflection of a piping system is from the earthquake.
It is possible to assemble a set of hinge joints and/or a set of gimbals joints as an absorption device of lateral movement in all coordination for a piping system.
